Paint a Sports Mural for Peace at the May 21st Colfax Marathon

Arts Street, a Denver, CO based not-for-profit youth development organization is inviting Businesses and Organizations to participate in promoting global peace by working together to create Murals that Depict Sports as a Vehicle for Personal and Team Development, and to Promote Peace, at the May 21st Colfax Marathon, 8:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.

Denver, CO, May 03, 2006 --(PR.com)-- Arts Street, a Denver, CO based not-for-profit youth development organization is inviting Businesses and Organizations to participate in promoting global peace by working together to create Murals that Depict Sports as a Vehicle for Personal and Team Development, and to Promote Peace, at the May 21st Colfax Marathon, 8:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.

The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), officially declared years 2001 through 2010 A Decade of a Culture of PEACE – In support of this effort, The Art Miles Mural Project was developed in Vienna, Austria to generate worldwide participation from global citizens who are concerned with peace. Since the inception of this project in 2001, more than 41,000 people have painted over 1,500 murals on canvas from more than 100 countries throughout the continents. The project will conclude by displaying all the murals around the Great Pyramids of Giza, Egypt at the end of the decade in 2010.

Arts Street, in conjunction with The Art Miles Mural Project, wants to extend this worldwide effort to the Denver community. - Businesses and Organizations are encouraged to put together teams and on May 21st , during the Colfax Marathon, create sports, health and wellness murals that will be displayed at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, China.

About Arts Street

Arts Street, a Colorado non-profit organization, was founded in 1995 as a youth development program to address workforce needs and truancy issues. The program was structured using the arts as a means to foster creative thinking and problem solving - leading to a range of career opportunities. It was established as a project for the City and County of Denver and as of July 2005 became an independent 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.
