ImageNow Speeds Claims Processing at Washington State Transit Insurance Pool

Perceptive Software's Document Management Suite Integrates with CSC Riskmaster During Four-Day Deployment

Shawnee, KS, May 16, 2006 --(PR.com)-- Perceptive Software, Inc., today announced that Washington State Transit Insurance Pool (WSTIP) uses ImageNow® integrated document management, imaging and workflow solutions to efficiently manage insurance claims documentation.

WSTIP handles claims documentation from transit agencies located throughout the states of Washington and Ohio. The organization's document imaging system was difficult to use and had insufficient security functionality. WSTIP searched for a more user-friendly to securely manage its electronic document repository. ImageNow was selected to meet this need.

"ImageNow Mail Agent made ImageNow stand out," said Don Orton, network administrator. "The ability to easily integrate with multiple applications with a few clicks of the mouse and retrieve documents quickly were also big selling points."

To prepare for ImageNow installation, Orton practiced ImageNow setup in real-world scenarios at an ImageNow training class. He was impressed by the instruction and state-of-the-art training facilities at Perceptive Software's new, 101,000-square foot headquarters in Shawnee, Kan.

"Perceptive Software's training facilities are excellent, and the class gave me a useful overview of ImageNow functionality and administration," Orton said.
Orton returned to WSTIP's corporate office in Olympia, Wash., and used what he learned during training to kick start ImageNow implementation by integrating the product with WSTIP's claims application. Patented LearnMode™ technology facilitated a tight link between ImageNow and CSC Riskmaster® in WSTIP's claims department.

"ImageNow integrated with Riskmaster in 15 minutes," Orton said. "Its integration capability also gives us the flexibility to upgrade and add applications."

Many document management products obstruct host application operations, but ImageNow complements WSTIP's existing technology. Document images are linked to records in Riskmaster, allowing users to instantly retrieve the documents they need from their host application screens.

"ImageNow's tight link with Riskmaster gives users easy document access," Orton said. "If they're in Riskmaster and need to view supporting files, they just click the ImageNow button in the system tray."

A Perceptive Software implementation consultant completed ImageNow deployment in just four days. Orton feels his active role in the implementation further equipped him to manage ImageNow independently.

"The combination of training and help from Perceptive Software's knowledgeable staff and ImageNow's ease of use makes it a wonderful product to use and administer," he said.

Before implementing ImageNow, WSTIP received hard copies from multiple transit agencies. Employees manually sorted and scanned these documents into the old document imaging system, or transit agencies e-mailed images to WSTIP staff and they manually attached the image to the appropriate Riskmaster file.

To send an attachment to WSTIP, a transit agency worker scanned claims documentation, copied the files from their local machine to the WSTIP File Server, logged into Riskmaster, linked the document to the correct Riskmaster file and checked a link box to make sure it was saved in only one directory. If documents were labeled incorrectly or the employee did not check the link box, the attachments ended up in two directories and were not linked to the correct Riskmaster record.

Agencies now use ImageNow to send documents electronically, reducing the number of hard copies WSTIP receives. Documents are scanned into ImageNow and labeled by event, document type and unique identification number. Multi-page e-mail attachments are created with a single click and sent to WSTIP. ImageNow Mail Agent captures these incoming e-mails and imports them directly into ImageNow for immediate processing.

"ImageNow Mail Agent has replaced a long, technical process with a quick, user-friendly way to process e-mails," Orton said. "Attaching and sending a multi-page document is six times faster with ImageNow, so transit agencies process claims more quickly."

ImageNow supports virtually any document and file type, and allows WSTIP to collate accident scene photographs, damage estimates and claims adjuster reports in a central image repository. Organizing documents in one place enables WSTIP employees to locate and retrieve any document in seconds.
"ImageNow saves time by making all documents readily available," Orton said. "It enables us to manage documents more efficiently."
