American Institute of Graphic Arts Recognizes Two San Diego Designers as 2008 AIGA Fellows

New York, NY, October 02, 2008 --(PR.com)-- At the 2008 America Institute of Graphic Design (AIGA) Design Legends Gala, two San Diego graphic designers, Ron Miriello of Miriello Grafico and MaeLin Levine of Visual Asylum, were recognized as National AIGA Fellows. The gala, held on September 18th at Chelsea Pier overlooking the Hudson River, celebrated 21 designers from across the U.S. for exceptional, career-long contributions to their communities and to the design profession.

Miriello was recognized for the work of his graphic communications firm, Miriello Grafico, his 30 years of support of the profession, and his mentorship in the San Diego design community. Levine was also recognized for the work of her graphic communications firm, Visual Asylum, along with her 13 year commitment to the Board of Directors of the San Diego Chapter including 4 years as chapter president and her passionate ongoing involvement in education.

The national event, attended by over 500 design professionals, also recognized Harley-Davidson Motorcycles and Design Within Reach for their corporate design leadership. Lifetime achievement medals were given to recognize designers Clement Mok, Leroy Winbush and Gail Anderson.

All proceeds from the annual event are used to enhance the profession including AIGA scholarships for disadvantaged students.
