Historic Attendance for Association Meeting

Over 700 persons attended a networking event for construction trade subcontractors to meet with Chicago area general contractors.

Des Plaines, IL, October 12, 2008 --(PR.com)-- ASA Chicago, an association representing subcontractors of all construction trades, experienced a record high turnout for its fourth annual Meet the GCs event, Tuesday, October 7, 2008, at Venuti’s in Addison, IL. Over 700 persons attended the event to meet with 31 general contractor firms from the Chicago area. Attendees represented all construction trades and associated businesses. With the economy sliding downwards and the construction sector hit particularly hard, this event gave the attendees an opportunity to network with the very firms who provide them with jobs which is not available anywhere else.

Meet the GCs is the association’s major networking evening, where members and nonmembers have the opportunity to meet and speak one-on-one with project managers, estimators, and executives of major general contracting firms. Among the GCs were: McShane Construction, Ragnar Benson, Gilbane Building, Ujamaa Construction, and Walsh Group. Twenty-six other GC firms also had representation at the event.

Kay Anagnos of Anagnos Door, Justice, IL, and president of ASA Chicago said, “The estimator's night was a great opportunity to make lots of contacts in a single evening. The benefits of being a member in an active organization like ASA Chicago are shown by the record attendance. I'm grateful to the GC representatives who participated in the event.” Karsten Pawlik of Alpine Demolition, Batavia, IL, and treasurer of ASA Chicago said of the event, “I was able to solidify relationships with many GC’s and able to follow up on many bids that I had submitted. It was also great to just see a lot of the other subcontractors and friends that I have worked with over the years.”

The Meet the GCs was open to all construction industry firms and its employees. A complete list of general contracting firms and attendees is available at the association’s Web site ww.asachicago.org>events>meeting attendees.
