dPict Imaging Adds Configurable EDID to Nexeon HD

dPict Imaging announces the addition of configurable EDID, allowing more flexibility for OEM applications.

Indianapolis, IN, October 17, 2008 --(PR.com)-- dPict Imaging today announced the addition of user configurable EDID to the popular Nexeon HD high-definition frame grabber. With EDID, the Nexeon HD can now be directly connected to display devices and communicate its capabilities for plug and play support. Through the dVeloper Foundation SDK, OEM’s can configure the Nexeon HD to support only those capabilities necessary for their application, giving another level of customization.

EDID is the Extended Display Identification Data is a VESA standard data format that contains basic information about a device and its capabilities, including vendor information, maximum image size, color characteristics, frequency range limits, and character strings for the device name and serial number. Normally used for display monitors, EDID information is stored in an on-board EEPROM and uses Display Data Channel (DDC) to communicate to the display device. More information on EDID and DDC can be found at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Extended_display_identification_data.

To aid in EDID configuration, dPict Imaging also announced an easy to use EDID editor tool that will allow users to create and modify EDID structures to be stored on the Nexeon HD frame grabber. This EDID editor will be part of the dVeloper Foundation SDK for Nexeon HD.
