Landscape Designer Lincoln Smith Gains LEED Accreditation

Annapolis, MD, October 17, 2008 --(PR.com)-- Lincoln Smith of Graham Landscape Architecture has earned professional accreditation in Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) from the Green Building Certification Institute, in partnership with the U.S. Green Building Council. LEED accreditation distinguishes professionals with the knowledge and skills to successfully steward projects through the program’s nationally recognized green rating and certification process.

LEED for Homes promotes the design and construction of high-performance green residences. Projects are evaluated in key areas such as innovation and design; location and linkages; sustainable sites; water efficiency; energy and atmosphere; materials and resources; indoor environmental quality; and awareness and education.

Mr. Smith’s LEED accreditation reflects Graham Landscape Architecture’s mission of promoting responsible land stewardship and sustainable practices. The principles are reflected in the firm’s signature projects, with ecologically responsible features, such as native plantings, shaded buildings and hardscapes, locally sourced materials, certified wood structures, storm water management systems, and water conservation techniques.

A resident of Bowie, Mr. Smith has a Master of Arts degree in landscape design from the Conway School of Landscape Design.
