IIMSAM Organizes International Day of Arab’s Children at Shafallah

The Goodwill Ambassador visited the various departments and activity centres of Shaffalah and greeted the Children with Special Needs on the occasion. Accompanied by Dr. Ed Denning, Managing Director of Shafallah and Dr Samira Al Qasmi, Deputy Managing Director, His Excellency toured the premises and was briefed on Shafallah's new complex in Lusail among others. He visited the students and staff and presented a number of gifts, toys and flowers amongst students.

Doha, Qatar, October 22, 2008 --(PR.com)-- A high level delegation of Intergovernmental Institution for the use of Micro-algae Spirulina against Malnutrition (IIMSAM), a Permanent Observer to the United Nations Economic and Social Council led by its Goodwill Ambassador, His Excellency Dr. Naseer S. Homoud paid a visit to the Shafallah Center for Children with Special Needs, recently.

The occasion was to celebrate International Day of Arab’s Children with the housed students of the Centre which falls every year on October 2.

The visit was aimed at extending IIMSAM’s continuous support for the centre and to interact with the children.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Homoud lauded the efforts and roles being played by the Centre under the patronage of Her Highness Sheikha Mozah Bint Nasser Al- Missnad, Consort of His Highness the Emir.

He called upon the society to extend their unstoppable supports to ensure happiness to the Children with Special Needs and their parents. Focusing on Educational endeavours of Shafallah, Dr. Homoud said the existence of such facilities were the demand of the time.

Terming the Centre as an innovative and unique dimension in the arena of social revolution, Dr. Homoud said that Shafallah will be very soon taken as a role model among the organizations dealing with sensational causes.

“Institutions like Shafallah can better shed the light on the mechanism to be adopted globally concerning the empowerment of children with special needs”, he added.

Dr. Naseer said among eight envisaged goals of the Millennium Development Goals by the United Nations, six were exclusively targeted on the problem pertaining to the children.

The Goodwill Ambassador praised the recent effort taken by Her Highness Sheikha Mozah Bint Nasser Al- Missnad through which Qatar was continued with championing the actions to improve the lives of autism sufferers by co-hosting an awareness-raising conference with the United Nations on the sidelines of the annual meeting of world leaders in New York recently.

Speaking on the occasion, Ms. Sameera Al- Qassmi, Deputy Managing Director of Shafallah Centre for Children with Special Needs said while we are trying to expand and admit as many as we can, however, our focus on quality service remains the priority.
