)-- Following on from their 2007 triumph at the Thames Gateway Business Awards, Powerchex have been shortlisted for two more awards this year. Powerchex’s continued success in 2008 has been recognised with nominations in the Business of the Year and Innovation categories.
After scooping awards for Growth Business and Business Person of the year in 2007, Powerchex will be hopeful of further success in 2008 in a glamorous ceremony that will be presented by TV Chef James Martin at the ExCeL.
Powerchex have also been shortlisted for The Small Business Award at the Thames Valley Business Magazine Awards 2008, to be presented in another black tie ceremony, this time by former Foreign Secretary, and now Housing Minister, the Rt Hon Margaret Beckett MP.
Powerchex checks CVs for some of the nation’s biggest financial institutions and has grown from one employee, a desk and no clients to nearly 40 full-time employees servicing over 200 clients.
In its fifth year of business, Powerchex boasts a newly refurbished office in Wapping, some of the biggest financial institutions in the world as clients, and a workforce of 39 employees, of which nearly half are from the local borough.
Powerchex work with Tower Hamlets Council to give young people in the local area the opportunity to work in a thriving but demanding environment. “We pride ourselves on giving employment opportunities to talented people from the local area, says Powerchex MD Alexandra Kelly.
Having awarded Powerchex the highly commended award for Business of the Year last year, the judges at Thames Gateway Business Awards have given Powerchex the opportunity to go one better second time round.
