Verdurez Announces Launch of Social Networking Website for Senior Indians

A social networking website launched for men and women of Indian origin aged 55 and above living in India and abroad.

Bombay, India, November 13, 2008 --(PR.com)-- Verdurez has launched a social networking website for men and women of Indian origin aged 55 and above living in India and abroad. The aim of the website is to help senior Indians lead a more enriched life and to help them keep pace with the fast changing world around them. According to a 2006 report by Internet & Mobile Association of India (IAMAI), the number of senior Indians (61 years and above) going online is rapidly increasing. Their study suggests that “these are successful senior Indians enjoying living life to the full and have adopted & adapted to technology and predominantly use it for emotional reasons.”

Verdurez.com provides a platform for members to network, make friends, find partners, meet like-minded people and search for resources. The website, which is two months old, has over 250 members from places like Delhi, Gurgaon, Vizag, Hyderabad and Atlanta (USA).

The website is divided into two sections: Community and Articles. The Community pages include member listing, chaupal, blogs, groups and agony column. These pages are for registered members only; membership is free. The Articles section is open to all visitors and covers relevant topics in the areas of technology, relationship, wellness, hobby, money, travel and citizen’s initiative.

The website has also got a Job Board which is still in its infancy. The company hopes to attract prospective employers who are actively seeking older employees. Additionally, for its members, the promoters have formed alliances with a couple of health and travel companies and will be adding to the list in the coming months.

The name Verdurez has been chosen from the noun verdure which means greenness, especially of fresh, flourishing vegetation, freshness in general; flourishing condition; vigour. It is based on the promoters’ belief that life doesn’t stop when one reaches a certain age, if anything, a new phase in life begins; it, too, can flourish with vigour and freshness.
