Free Music Concert Seeks to Promote Safe Driving Practices Among the Harris County Residents

A music concert to increase awareness about automobile & road safety.

Houston, TX, June 02, 2006 --(PR.com)-- Residents of Harris County will get to enjoy a day filled with great musical performances by some of the top local bands, when the first annual Concert for Automobile & Road Safety, takes place on Saturday, June 3rd, 2006, at Jones Plaza, downtown Houston.

Harris County Hospital District, and the Texas Department of Transportation have partnered with Adagio Productions to present this free event, which is aimed at increasing safe driving practices among the Harris County residents.

According to Robin Garza, Trauma Center Coordinator at the Ben Taub General Hospital, Harris County Hospital District is committed to getting the word out about the Click It or Ticket campaign, which encourages all drivers to buckle up or pay a hefty fine.

“Currently Harris County has one of the highest rates of auto accidents in the nation. By increasing awareness about the seat belt safety through this concert, we will be able to drastically reduce the number of auto accident related injuries and fatalities in the county,” Garza said.

This free event is scheduled from 4:00 pm to 10:00 pm, and will feature more than twelve local bands and artists, performing Alternative Rock, Pop, Mariachi, Country, Bluegrass, Americana, Hip-hop, Soul, Industrial, Trance, Spanish rock, and Zydeco style of music, among others.

“All the musical acts have been carefully selected to represent the different cultures that make up the Harris County residents,” said Kam Junejo, the Chief Executive Officer of Adagio Productions. “We are confident that our community will enjoy this unique opportunity to attend this concert with their families and celebrate the safe driving initiative undertaken by the Texas Department of Transportation, and the Harris County Hospital District.”

Along with great music, the concert attendees will also get to enjoy an exciting array of foods and non-alcoholic beverages, games and face painting for kids, as well as hundreds of giveaways that include free tickets to the Houston Zoo, and the Houston Museum of Natural Science.
