Shermco Industries Purchases the SyberWorks Learning Management System to Manage Technician Certification and Training

SyberWorks Inc., a leader in the Learning Management Systems industry, announced today that they signed an agreement with Shermco Industries, Inc. to manage technician certification training using the SyberWorks Learning Management System.

Waltham, MA, November 20, 2008 --(PR.com)-- Shermco Industries services, tests, maintains and repairs power-distribution systems and related equipment for the industrial base nationwide. As a member of the InterNational Electrical Testing Association, the Electrical Apparatus Service Association and other electrical industry organizations, Shermco is required to certify technicians on a huge variety of industrial electrical equipment and machinery.

“Traditionally, we managed our training-certification records using a system of spreadsheets and folders, but as the company grew, this became extremely difficult, time consuming and labor intensive,” said Lonnie Mullen, vice president of operations for Shermco. “We really needed a system that would not only manage certification training but also allow us to upload electronic training certificates and security badges, and append them to our technician’s training records and transcripts.”

The SyberWorks Learning Management System allows Shermco to quickly run transcript reports, electronically call up individual training certificates and print them as needed to provide proof of technician certification to their customers. In addition, the new system permits Shermco’s technicians to be trained anywhere: in classrooms by their own subject-matter experts, on-the-job or in classes put on by equipment manufacturers (where they receive a paper certificate for completing training).

“We meet with our technicians every Monday to discuss safety topics and address other training needs, so we also use the SyberWorks Learning Management System to quiz technicians after these meetings and check their retention of the material discussed,” said Mullen. “The results are stored in the system, and we can access them online at any time.”

Dave Boggs, CEO of SyberWorks, summarizes, “The SyberWorks Learning Management System Suite provides a comprehensive learning management solution for any training need that exists in the market place.”
