New Children's Pirate Book Published (Petey and the Mean Pirates) That Celebrates Anti Aggressive Behavior

There will be a book signing event on Nov 22nd in Canandaigua, NY at the Canandaigua Primary School for Donna Bennett's new children's book about a nice pirate who actually becomes the hero. It’s a fun pirate story that also sends a heartwarming message about the importance of “talking it out” rather than showing aggression when confronted with life’s obstacles.

Canandaigua, NY, November 21, 2008 --(PR.com)-- Canandaigua mother, Donna Bennett, and Canandaigua Primary School art teacher, J.C. Mull, published their children’s book, Petey and the Mean Pirates. They will be holding a book signing event on Saturday, November 22nd at the Canandaigua Elementary School cafeteria from 9am-3pm, during the PTO’s Shoppers Showcase.

Petey and the Mean Pirates is a delightful children's book that appeals to both kids and parents, alike. Mrs. Bennett wrote the book to address the common childhood belief that all pirates have to be rough and tough and aggressive (and, as a parent, she knows that sometimes "little pirates" can act out that way at home, school, or daycare). But, Petey is different...

Brought to life by the wonderfully talented illustrator, J. C. Mull, Petey wins over the hearts of the mean pirates (and even a few hungry sharks) using something other than swords, angry words, and bullying.

Excerpt from the back cover: "Petey is nice. He's really very nice. Then why is a nice kid like him living aboard a ship full of mean pirates? Petey warms others with his words and smile. He spreads this way of living to others - even to a bunch of mean and swashbuckling pirates who think the riches of life can be found in a treasure chest.”

Mrs. Bennett says: “This is a tried and true story I have told my three children over the years to let them experience how a nice pirate can actually be the hero. It’s a fun pirate story that also sends a heartwarming message about the importance of “talking it out” rather than showing aggression when confronted with life’s obstacles. I am excited to be able to share our family pirate story (complete with hungry sharks and even an ice cream social) with other families.”

Petey and the Mean Pirates will soon be available at retail locations. It is currently available for purchase, signed and gift wrapped for the holidays, at the book signing event on November 22nd as well as online at www.threechiquitaspublishing.com and www.amazon.com.
