Advanced Clustering Releases Newest Pinnacle 1A2303 Server Model Using New Quad-Core AMD Opteron™ Processor

Kansas City, KS, December 04, 2008 --(PR.com)-- Advanced Clustering Technologies is pleased to announce our newest server model, the Pinnacle 1A2303. This 1U rack mount model will feature the new Quad-Core AMD Opteron™ processor, built on 45nm process technology and featuring enhancements to AMD's industry-leading quad-core microprocessor technology.

“In efforts to make the Pinnacle 1A2303 as energy efficient as possible, our systems include 80%+ efficient power supplies and low powered hard drives. With the shrinking of the die to accommodate the 45nm process on the Quad-Core AMD Opteron processor, we look for the Pinnacle 1A2303 to be even more energy efficient, and provide outstanding performance,” stated Kyle Sheumaker, President of Advanced Clustering Technologies. The Pinnacle 1A2303 will be configured with best in class components including shock-mounted hard drives and fans and an 80%+ efficient power supply.

The Pinnacle 1A2303 works well in environments requiring high memory bandwidth and low memory latency, because Quad-Core AMD Opteron processors do not rely on a shared memory bus located on the motherboard. By integrating the memory controller directly onto the processor, each core has direct access to main memory, thus reducing the latency associated with front-side bus architectures. AMD’s Direct Connect Architecture allows processors to directly connect to one another, the I/O subsystem, as well as the memory banks for better performance. The enhanced Quad-Core AMD Opteron processor also features higher processor frequencies as well as core and cache enhancements for dramatic increases in performance within the same thermal and power envelopes as the previous Quad-Core AMD Opteron processors.

“We are pleased to see that Advanced Clustering is moving so quickly to the enhanced Quad-Core AMD Opteron processor. As a Platinum Reseller, they have consistently pushed to provide cutting edge equipment to HPC customers,” said John Fruehe, director, Server and Workstation Division, AMD. “By advancing AMD’s tradition of leadership in energy efficiency, outstanding performance, and investment protection, Advanced Clustering has once again delivered a leading-edge solution that will provide superior levels of performance and efficiency.”

Advanced Clustering is currently the Pinnacle 1A2303.
