Astral Sounds of Arktika

Russian label Textu Recordings, a sub-label of iRecords Group, is up to release the new album of the Russian project Arktika. It will please not only the cognoscenti and style aficionados, but also everyone who prefers quiet and beautiful Chill Out, Ambient or Downtempo.

Moscow, Russia, December 07, 2008 --(PR.com)-- The project’s mastermind, Artyom Tiunov, says that he named the project Arktika because his music is pretty cool.

Really, the juicy sound is filling the room with a transcendental coolness – that is the first feeling when listening to Arktika’s ‘Heart of the World’ – it’s a lovely present for all music lovers inclined to ‘chill-out/epic trance’. Arktika's musical influences include Enigma, Deep Forest, Amethystium, Karunesh, Cirrus, Omar Santana, Way Out West, Hybrid, Aphrodite. Meanwhile there is a great number of novelty in this project.

The New Age and Epic trance here are cunningly embellished with American Indian, Shaman, Indian and Eastern sounds. The cosmopolitism of Arktika’s music widens their music boundaries using the modern electronic arrangements as an ornamental pattern. In “Kingdom In The Clouds” you can find some elements of Gregorian style, the catholic choral singing with a semitonal sound palette processing, smoothly segueing to the Nature sounds. A folk expert might be interested to hear the sounds of Armenian Duduk, Peruvian flutes, as well as Indian tabla. The ‘Heart of the World’ soundspace enchants due to some innovative and tasty samples. Sometimes the ‘pure’ electronic music transforms into a voice or a sound of a lonely romantic piano.

Founded in 1993, Arktika is the creation of a Russian musician Artyom Tiunov, who is well known as a remixer and producer. In September 2002 the group took 8th place in a competition of electronic artists organized by ElectroEmpire/The Formic Records.
Later, Arktika won the 3rd place in a competition of Russian electronic artists, Café 2003. Artyom says that many creative ideas come to him during meditation. Besides, communication and cooperation with people of other cultures resulted in an amalgam of different styles, such as new age, epic trance, chillout and ambient. American singers Amanda Jones and Cameron Marion, the group Yungunz also took part. Musicians from USA, Canada, Germany, France, Poland and Russia contribute in Arktika’s music.

In 2003 Canadian director François Boudreau made a documentary ‘Beresford еn heritage’ using Arktika’s music as well as Jean Michel Jarre and Robert Lebel’s compositions. Their first album was released in 2004.

Arktika’s music helps you to dive into a dreamworld, you are slowly drifting into quiet and contemplative meditating with its harmonious sounds. This kind of music lets you soak up new sensations and let them go through yourself.

Just close your eyes, relax and take a magical journey into the “Heart Of The World”.
