New Avenue for Students to Get a Professional Baseball Internship This Season

IndependentMinorLeagueBaseball.com surveyed over 30 general managers and league executives in independent baseball, and a common request was the need for qualified interns for the 2009 season. The result is a new database for students who wish to gain a professional baseball internship this spring.

Addison, TX, December 08, 2008 --(PR.com)-- Students who wish to gain a professional baseball internship now have another option available to them. IndependentMinorLeagueBaseball.com surveyed over 30 independent baseball general managers, managers, and league executives to discuss their challenges. A surprising result was their need for a greater number of qualified interns.

IndependentMinorLeagueBaseball.com founder, Matt Mc Dermott said, "Many of the general managers and league executives indicated that they may not get access to the best interns because the independent leagues were not invited to the upcoming professional baseball winter meetings. Since many aspiring baseball interns attend the winter meetings in hopes of finding internships for the upcoming season, the general managers believed that their pool of applicants may shrink this season."

The result, Mc Dermott said, was to create a database of qualified interns for independent baseball.

"With many of the teams needing several interns for the 2009 season, IndependentMinorLeagueBaseball.com created a database where interested applicants can sign up; and their basic information will be sent to the requesting independent baseball owners, general managers, and league executives."
