Fort Lauderdale, FL, December 07, 2008 --(PR.com
)-- Producing a music video, feature film, TV show, commercial or theatrical production just got easier for those charged with “putting it together,” thanks to the opening of Top Shelf Artists (TSA), a one-stop supplier for all of the world-class talent needed to give a production the most coveted celebrity caliber hair designers, make-up experts, clothing stylists and photographers. “We even have body painters and f/x artists who can transform any actor or performer into whatever the client demands,” say TSA co-founders, Sydney Faye-Davis, noted fashion producer, and Melory Johnson, international make-up artist. The two women saw a void in the marketplace and knew they could begin filling it from the hundreds of names and talent they’d identified, had known and worked alongside during their many years in the industry.
“We spent a very long time working in the print and broadcast arena, meeting the best and worst in every category,” says Faye-Davis. “We knew how challenging it could be to find the right talent that will give a production that certain ‘zing’ and cutting edge that sets it apart from all others,” she adds. “Once we created our own list of Top Shelf Artists, we began expanding the search and identifying many of the brightest and best new stars coming up through the ranks.”
“The talent was available, for sure,” says Johnson. “What gave us the impetus to form Top Shelf Artists, however, was knowing that we knew exactly how to identify the best of the best. And we knew we could offer one stop shopping for any production looking to speed up the booking process, knowing it was also saving money and securing the leading artists in every possible category.”
Johnson, who was raised in South Africa, is a talented and accomplished artist in her own right. She discovered her passion for the magic of make-up after she graduated from the University of Pretoria, South Africa. Melory settled in the States with her husband Terry in 2000, and was soon working alongside the likes of Bobbi Brown and Laura Mercier. Most recently, Ms. Johnson founded a retail recruiting, training and booking agency for free-lance artists and photographers, called the meloryJohn talent group.
Ms. Faye-Davis was born into a show business family, her Dad being famed Chicago radio personality Marty Faye, her cousin legendary entertainer Danny Kaye and her aunt, cabaret star Frances Faye. Sydney is former executive editor and international retail sales director for both Harper’s Bazaar and Mirabella Magazines. Before moving to Florida, she was senior vice president of Warren Cowan & Associates, a Beverly Hills based entertainment, public relations and corporate marketing firm. “I understand every step of the production process,” she says. “I know how important it is to find and secure the best talent available, particularly when you’re in a time crunch and every dollar counts. Between Melory and myself, we know how to find and book the leading Top Shelf Artists in the industry, from coast to coast,” she notes.
Ms. Johnson adds, “Sydney and I have put together a meticulous list of local, national and even international star-quality artists. The men and women on our roster of talent have been selected for their ability, experience, work ethic, reputation and professionalism. For the clients we serve, there is simply no other resource in the industry that offers all that we can provide.”
