)-- New York City women’s clothing designer debra deRoo, was recently nominated as a finalist for the prestigious silver “Femme” trophy by fashion buyers at the Fashion Center Dallas. The nomination was in the category of excellence in design innovation and quality workmanship in Modern Wear.
The Dallas Fashion Awards (DFA) program is a "retailer-chosen" awards program in the apparel industry. The Awards honor designers and manufacturers for excellence in design innovation, quality workmanship and retail performance for eight categories of apparel and a special Award for Fashion Excellence. Now in its 33rd year, the DFA program has gained national recognition by giving retailers the opportunity to identify designers and companies that have helped them succeed.
A national nominating committee comprised of fashion editors, key retailers, trend experts and representatives from industry associations select the finalists in eight categories. Special category selections such as the Fashion Excellence Award are made by Dallas Market Center.
This year’s winners were: Accessories, Sondra Roberts; After 5, Marc Bouwer GLAMIT!; Children’s Wear, Florence Eiseman; Casual Contemporary, Taka; Bridge/Designer, Zelda; Contemporary, Kensie; Jewelry, Devon Leigh and in ModernWear, Lynn Ritchie.
