Five students from the Center for Digital Imaging Arts at Boston University are selected as finalists at FotoWeek DC

Georgetown, DC, December 11, 2008 --(PR.com)-- The week of November 15-22, 2008 marked the launch of FotoWeek DC, an annual gathering of the diverse and wide-ranging photography community, including photographers, museums, universities and all those involved in the profession. The event included exhibitions, events, lectures, juried shows and contests.

The Georgetown campus of the Center for Digital Imaging Arts at Boston University (CDIA) was honored to have two roles within the events of FotoWeek DC.

Part of the week included a juried photo competition. In the Student Category, five CDIA students were selected as finalists and were invited to the final Gala at the National Geographic building. Winners were: Amie Chou (Student Fine Art – Honorable Mention), Justin Mathews (Student Fine Art – Second Place), Steve Maxwell (Student Commercial – First Place), Meaghan Gay (Student Wedding – Honorable Mention) and Wilson Roa (Student Personal Project – Honorable Mention). Photos from the winners will soon be posted at http://www.fotoweekdc.org/.

The school also hosted two lectures. Photography Program Director Chris Alvanas gave a well-attended talk on HDR techniques. He discussed the process from capture through post-processing for high dynamic range imagery. Mirjam Evers also gave a talk about travel photography and photo treks.
