Licensed Attorney Named Academic Director of Gaming Programs at Art Institute

Ian Klimon directs the Game Art & Design and Visual & Game Programming departments at The Art Institute of California – Orange County.

Santa Ana, CA, January 02, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Hiring a licensed attorney to run the Game Art & Design and Visual & Game Programming departments at The Art Institute of California – Orange County may seem odd but despite his legal education, Ian Klimon has been working as a game developer for over 12 years.

He received a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy from Boston College before heading to the University of Baltimore School of Law where he earned his Master of Arts degree in Legal and Ethical Studies and also his Juris Doctorate. While his analytical skills would have made him an excellent lawyer, Klimon chose to use his talent to pursue his passion for computer gaming.

“The combination of Ian’s educational background and his gaming experience brings a unique perspective to the position that will benefit the faculty and students in both departments,” said Dean of Academic Affairs Melinda Lester.

Klimon comes to The Art Institute from Double Helix where he served as a development director, production designer and technical director. He has also worked with TimeGate Studios on the “Kohan” games and at Simutronics where he worked on “GemStone III” and Alliance of Heroes.”

“My mission is to ensure that our classes, faculty and programs provide the tools necessary for students to succeed,” Klimon said. “Through the connections I’ve made over the years, I’m confident I can continue to bring students the real-world opportunities that are typical of an Art Institute education.”
