TV4U.Com Featuring 50 Network TV Shows from 1950

TV4U.Com, the 42 channel IPTV ad supported network features thousands of classic TV shows from the past 60 years of commercial television.

Henderson, NV, January 11, 2009 --(PR.com)-- There are few people left who were lucky enough to own a TV set in 1950 so they could watch the first true complete season presented by the four major networks. Yes, there were four networks back then, and the ABC Network was the struggling newcomer on the block trying to compete with NBC and CBS, two long standing radio networks now ‘with a picture’ and the DuMont Network, which kicked off the whole industry in 1947 with Ted Mack and the Original Amateur Hour.

TV4U.Com has collected up no less than 50 TV series that appeared regularly on the air in 1950, and all can be seen on a video on demand basis.

Vintage NBC shows include the Colgate Comedy Hour; Philco TV Playhouse; Kukla, Fran and Ollie; Caravan of News; Lights Out!; Milton Berle’s Texaco Star Theater; the Original Amateur Hour that had stated on DuMont; Four Star Revue; Your Hit Parade; Kraft Television Theater; Break the Bank; You Bet Your Life; Juvenile Jury; Martin Kane, Private Detective; and the Gillette Cavalcade of Sports.

1950 Network shows on CBS that can now be seen on TV4U.Com include The Jack Benny Show; Toast of the Town; What’s My Line; Fred Waring Show; Perry Como Show; Lux Video Theater; Arthur Godfrey Show; The Goldbergs; Studio One; Chance of a Lifetime; Pabst Wednesday Night Fights; Alan Young Show; Burns and Allen; Truth or Consequences; Mama; Man Against Crime; Beat The Clock; and Ford Theater.

ABC Network1950 shows include Treasury Men in Action; Trouble With Father; Dick Tracy; Beulah; and The Lone Ranger on the TV4U.Com schedule.

The long lost DuMont Network’s 1950 primetime season lives on via TV4U.Com with Arthur Murray Dance Party; They Stand Accused; Captain Video; Johns Hopkins Science Review; Adventures of Ellery Queen; 20 Questions; Rocky King, Detective; and Cavalcade of Stars all being seen for the first time on television in decades.

Believe it or not, some shows from the 1947-49 era had already been cancelled (although they live on via TV4U.Com) including Front Row Center; Candid Camera (Yes, it came back years later); Life of Riley (with Jackie Gleason…it too came back with William Bendix); The Ed Wynn Show; and The Morey Amsterdam Show.

“We are delighted to present 50 TV Network series from 1950 to our TV4U.Com viewers,” said TV4U.Com CEO Charry Kennedy. “Most of these shows haven’t been seen in many years, but all are fun to watch again so we can get a feel for what our world was like way back in 1950.”

One interesting note is that several top radio shows, such as Ozzie and Harriet, Bing Crosby, Do You Trust Your Wife, Gunsmoke, Bob Hope, and Kate Smith were still big shows on radio an had not yet made the jump to Network TV.

TV4U.Com runs network and syndicated TV programming from 1947 to 1999, covering all eras of commercial TV. Primetime, kids shows, late night, afternoon, and morning shows have all be captured by TV4U.Com and made available again for TV fans to view.
