Toronto, Canada, January 07, 2009 --(PR.com
)-- Intelliware Development Inc. is pleased to announce that DevCreek.com has passed the significant milestone of collecting over 250 million data points. Intelliware, Canada’s leading Agile software development company, built DevCreek.com as a community dedicated to improving software quality through the collection, analysis and sharing of project metrics.
DevCreek.com provides an open, free service that helps software development teams monitor, analyze and learn from metrics collected by their ongoing project activities. By providing real-time feedback and aggregated historical project data, DevCreek.com aims to establish project and community-based metrics that encourage good software development practices. Metrics are interpreted and corrective action taken on current projects to drive greater business benefits, or used for planning purposes on future projects.
“A few months ago, DevCreek.com started to receive usage data from the production servers of a university student portal here in Toronto. It has long been frustrating for teams to not know how their applications are behaving when running on customer's production systems, and which features ended up being most useful to the end users of the system.” David Jones, the service’s lead developer continued, “The DevCreek agents running on the university production systems allowed the development team to be aware of performance issues ahead of the customer, helped them to diagnose problems in-situ, and monitor the effect of fixes once deployed.”
The collection of the 250 million data points for DevCreek represents records of specific events measured by the DevCreek agents since the service went live in Q3 of 2006. This includes items such as the start of a test method execution, a change to a bug issue, or a hit on an instrumented production system; all valuable data for developers, QA teams and project managers.
Gordon Cameron, Director of Business Development for DevCreek.com, added: “Access to performance data from the production system has allowed us to diagnose bottlenecks that weren’t evident in the client’s test environment. The historical performance graphs helped to pinpoint where changes had occurred in our code or the supporting infrastructure, the effect of these changes, and in tuning overall system performance for the university portal.”
The DevCreek community continues to grow and add value daily to its participants. To join the community, please visit DevCreek.com. For further information please contact Glen Johnson at 416-762-0032 ext 268 (firstname.lastname@example.org) or visit www.intelliware.ca.
