Dixon-Price to Reprint Canoeing Classic

Kingston, WA, January 20, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Dixon-Price Publishing will publish a new edition of The Rob Roy on the Baltic, a classic Victorian canoeing voyage by John MacGregor, author of the seminal book A Thousand Miles in the Rob Roy Canoe, the bestselling book of 1866. Publication date has been set for Feb. 15, 2009.

MacGregor's voyage through the Baltic and eastern end of the North Sea including travels through Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Prussia, and the island of Heligoland which was then under British rule. The voyages MacGregor chronicled in the 19th century as well as his formation of the Royal Canoe Club are credited with the inspiring the sports of both sea kayaking and canoe camping that are popular recreations today.

This edition will include three of the four appendices in the original version, including MacGregor's detailed description of the Rob Roy's construction. This historic canoe, also detailed in Dixon-Price's recently released Practical Boat Building for Amateurs, is a hybrid between canoe and kayak that has fascinated builders and paddlers for more than a century.

Review copies are available to qualified reviewers, and both high resolution and web-ready cover art is available from the publisher who can be contacted by email at dixonpr@dixonprice.com.
