Rapper Daz Dillinger Set to Shoot Gospel Video with Mother, Dr. Allean Varnado Lang

Atlanta, GA, January 21, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Dr. Allean Varnado Lang, mother of Daz Dillenger and Snoop Dog's Aunt, will begin the video shoot of her single “I’m Good” on January 31st, 2009. Appearing with her on the track is Daz Dillinger, mostly known for his membership in the rap duo Tha Dogg Pound, with Kurupt, and his work with Death Row Records, and up and coming artists Scott Free from Atlanta. Lang signed with Atlanta based Empty Vessel Music late last year. Empty Vessel Music is billed as the first known For Impact, 501(c) 3 label and Music Company. “Most indie labels are non-profit, we just made it official” jokes Empty Vessel's Executive Director Gerry Van Mansfeld.

The concept for the song came from Dr. Varnado Lang’s experiences working with kids and always hearing people comment “they are no good” or “they will never amount to anything”. She says, “I want them to know that God made them good, they are valued, and they can overcome their circumstances.” The song fits perfectly with Empty Vessel’s Music Matters Program which brings free music education, appreciation and intervention to kids in underserved urban areas. The video shoot will help kick off the pilot program in Atlanta’s old Fourth Ward.

Many are surprised that Daz would do a Gospel video because of his hard core image, but he explains over the years he has produced many of his mothers songs and wanted to participate. As far as Scott Free, he may be new on the music scene, but he is a fixture in Atlanta’s Fourth Ward. Scott serves as the Pastor of the Adopt a Block program for the Atlanta Dream Center. Asked if he was concerned that the video will include an icon of rap music’s hard core "gangsta" image Scott commented, “To some it may seem controversial and contradictory but I’m all for it". Who am I to say? I just know I am in this community everyday to be a different voice on the street and encourage the kids and love the community.” Gerry Van Mansfeld added, “the bottom line is the kids.”

Empty Vessel Music is based in Atlanta Georgia and its mission is to encourage, equip and enable others so to transform lives using music as the tool. For more information please visit emptyvessel.org or emptyvesselmusic.com
