ACT -- theact.tv -- Sends Staff to 2009 Miss America Competition

Staff at the ACT -- theact.tv -- were in the audience to applaud and send congratulations backstage to Miss Indiana, Katie Stam from Seymour, Indiana, for winning the title of Miss America 2009.

Henderson, NV, January 29, 2009 --(PR.com)-- TheAct.tv had a staff member in the audience at this year's Miss America competition held at the Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino in Las Vegas. Shortly after Katie was announced the winner, staff member Alison Johnson send a note of congratulations and well wishes backstage to the new Miss America.

Katie's triumphant walk across the stage was just the beginning of a journey that will take her to every corner of the country during her year of service as Miss America 2009. She will travel approximately 20,000 miles each month speaking to audiences about her platform of Passion for Service: Promoting Community Service and Involvement and acting as the official National Goodwill Ambassador for Children's Miracle Network. Children's Miracle Network, a non-profit organization dedicated to saving and improving the lives of children by raising funds for children's hospitals, is the national platform partner of the Miss America Organization.

Johnson was on-hand to view the competition as the ACT program oftens graduates students interested in competiting in the Miss America pagent. By having staff members monitor the event, the program directors are kept well-infomred and up-to-date on the requirements of contestants.

Along with the title of Miss America 2009, Katie Stam won a $50,000 scholarship to continue her education. The first runner-up was Miss Georgia Chasity Hardman, she earned a $25,000 scholarship. Second runner-up honors and a $20,000 scholarship were awarded to Miss Iowa Olivia Myers.
