Sky Pirates of Valendor Comes to a "Crashing Close"

Independent Comic Book Miniseries releases its final issue.

Warwick, RI, January 30, 2009 --(PR.com)-- In anticipation of the 4th Annual New York Comic Con, Jolly Rogue Studios announces the release of the concluding issue of Sky Pirates of Valendor Volume 1. First debuting in February 2008, the five issue miniseries is the first creator-owned series to be published by Free Lunch Comics, a Connecticut independent publisher.

Created and written by Everett Soares, Sky Pirates of Valendor centers around the crew of the Rogue’s Revenge in the fantasy world of Valendor, a world of floating continents and a rich history of piracy. The series is illustrated by fantasy artist Brian Brinlee. The plot of the series focuses on Tobin Manheim and his crew embarking on their next assignment, to rescue an unknowingly important employee to the governor of South Gate. In Issue 1, both the reader and the main character learn pretty quickly that this assignment may not be as easy as anyone thinks. To secure the completion of the job, Manheim is forced to work with his ex-wife. In Issue 2, Tobin faces his next stumbling block, a bounty on his head. Once the fearless captain deals with that obstacle, in Issue 3, Tobin is the deliverer and recipient of severe ship damage. As the series reaches its climax in Issue 4, Tobin and the crew fight zombies so they may advance to the last leg of their rescue mission.

In Issue 5, which will make its debut appearance at New York Comic Con, Soares welcomes two artists to his team. Collaborating on inking duties, Alex Rivera and Keith Murphey join Soares, Brinlee and colorist Jet Amago to create the exciting 32 page story finale. Additionally, the complete 48 page book features five pieces of guest pinup art from artists Angela Nieves, Chris Ring, James Rodriguez and Aimee Cozza. This captivating issue will bring this storyline to a shocking and unexpected close. Soares will be appearing on Artist Alley Table #L6 at New York Comic Con from February 6 through 8, 2009.
