Poor Economy Means Tough Times for Pool Owners

A Better Pool Company, located in Burlington Ontario, has released a website tutorial designed to help frugal people locate leaks in their own swimming pool without the need for a service professional. The tutorial acts as an interactive and educational leak detection tool for pool owners.

Toronto, Canada, February 13, 2009 --(PR.com)-- With uncertainty in the economy luxury items become a difficult expense to justify. Some luxury expenses can be eliminated however some luxuries like residential swimming pools demand time, attention and maintenance regardless of income stability. Swimming pool owners are put in an especially tight position in times like these says Steve Goodale, owner of A Better Pool Company in Burlington Ontario.

"The bottom line is that people can not afford to maintain their pools right now and repairs are starting to pile up. When a swimming pool is actively leaking you can count on more problems to develop as a result. If pool owners could just locate and address the leak point in the pool they will save a lot of money when the time does come for a professional repair."

He goes on to explain that finding a leak is a function of knowledge of swimming pool systems.

"A systematic process of elimination is the most reliable method to finding the leak and this requires little more than patience and observation skills. The tests are easy to perform and require little technical knowledge. A little education goes a long was in stretching each dollar when average pool renovation costs are at an all time high."

Increases in material costs, freight fees and fuel surcharges have all combined to raise the rates of swimming pool related services in the past few years. Now with record unemployment rates and job loss it is likely to be difficult for pool owners, specifically middle income families to cope with the expense of unexpected pool repairs.

"If you can stop the leak, or even slow it down, you will be able to put off a renovation for a season or two and often more. At the very least this will give you time to financially prepare."
