Less like a Field Trip, More Like A Night Out

Erie, PA, February 20, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Picture this: a group of hip and sophisticated 20 to 40-somethings who are interested in the same goal – attending fabulous parties and events while broadening their network of friends and supporting the Erie Art Museum.

Nouveau, the Erie Art Museum’s party series for young cosmopolitans, feels less like a field trip and more like a night out. Quarterly themes around the Museum’s exhibitions feature live music, unusual tours, off beat encounters with art, tasty nibblers, donation bar . . . and a dose of new. The party continues at Molly Brannigans, 506 State Street, at 7 p.m. with specials for Nouveau attendees.

“Like Museums across the country, the Erie Art Museum is searching for a way to reach young professionals,” said Tammy Roche, Erie Art Museum director of marketing and development. “These cosmopolites are our future members. They’re the future families who will bring their kids here.”

So, Roche asked a group of young professional leaders to join in a series of brainstorming sessions in 2008. The discussion spawned Nouveau, which launches on Friday, Feb. 27, 2009 from 5-7 p.m. at the Erie Art Museum, 411 State Street. The first party, themed Ubunifu (the Swahili word for creativity), will feature a drumming circle led by Ron “Preach” Williams, a beading workshop, tasty nibblers, and a donation bar.

Possible future event themes include a take-off on VH-1’s Save the Music, Art & Ale, and an open clay studio.

“Like Gallery Night and the Mid-day ArtBreak, my hope is that the concept really rubs off on people in terms of making the Art Museum a little more accessible, and dare I say it, cool,” said Roche.

Nouveau events are free for Erie Art Museum members and $8 for the general public. Young Erie Professionals’ members receive a $2 discount.

Nouveau dates are set for May 29, 2009, August 28, 2009 and October 30, 2009.

Nouveau is sponsored by the Erie Times News and PNC Bank. Additional community support is given by Molly Brannigans, Budweiser American Ale and BOB FM.
