Morton Grove Action Party Unveils Proposed "Code of Ethics"

Morton Grove, IL, February 20, 2009 --(PR.com)-- The Action Party of Morton Grove believes that the citizens and businesses of the Village of Morton Grove are entitled to honest, ethical, transparent, and accountable local government. The effective functioning of a democratic government requires that elected and appointed public officials comply with both the letter and spirit of the laws and policies affecting the operations of municipal government.

To that end, the Action Party proposes adopting a “Code of Ethics” that all Village officials and appointed Board and Commission members would follow. The Code of Ethics would stress that public officials be independent, impartial, and fair in their judgment and actions. Furthermore, public office would be used for the public good, not for personal gain. Any and all public deliberations and processes would be conducted openly (unless legally confidential by nature) and in an atmosphere of respect and civility. By adopting such a Code of Ethics, the Village government would earn the public’s full confidence for integrity as well as operate in a fair and effective manner.

A detailed version of the proposed Code of Ethics can be found on the Action Party’s website: www.actionparty.org. The Morton Grove Action Party is a grassroots Morton Grove-based political party, priding itself in the fact that its members are non-partisan – Democrats, Republicans, and Independents – who are dedicated to providing the Village of Morton Grove with experienced, independent, and dedicated leadership.

The Action Party candidates for the upcoming April 7, 2009 municipal election are Daniel J. Staackmann for Village President; Tony S. Kalogerakos for Village Clerk; Daniel P. DiMaria, Larry Gomberg, and Bill Grear for Village Trustees.
