Two Ways to Enjoy the Sculptures of David Hayes

Frame Shop Gallery show now open along with Public Art project.

Erie, PA, July 07, 2006 --(PR.com)-- Complementing the "Art Around Erie" public art project this summer is small scale works and drawings by David Hayes in the Erie Art Museum Frame Shop Gallery.  The exhibit titled "Small Sculptures and Studies" is on display now through September 30, 2006.

Hayes' work is as powerful in a gallery setting as it is outdoors. The strong formal elements of the sculptures, including their shapes, colors, and planes, mold the space around them in a harmonious way, whether indoors or outdoors. The work captivates and compels the viewer to walk around it and take in each individual element.

The ongoing “Art Around Erie: Sculptures by David Hayes” consists of colorful abstract sculptures by David Hayes are installed in numerous spots around downtown Erie through October 23, 2006. The exhibit now features a family walking tour. Materials for the walking tour can be obtained at the Erie Art Museum reception desk at no charge.

A public reception for the exhibit will be held on Friday, July 14, 2006 at 8 p.m.

The Erie Art Museum is open Tuesday through Saturday 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.  Cost is $4 for adults, $3 for students and seniors and $2 for children under 12.  Annex Gallery and Frame Shop Gallery exhibits are always free. The Museum’s Main Floor and Ground Floor Galleries are free to all on Wednesdays.
