Viva Carolina Launches Viva Carolina En La Escuela

Charlotte, NC, February 26, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Juan Pablo Giometti, executive editor of Viva Carolina (www.vivacarolina.com), a multimedia Latino network in the Carolinas, has announced the launch of Viva Carolina’s newest program Viva Carolina en la Escuela (Viva Carolina in school). This program is designed to increase cultural awareness within the community along with promoting educational success by creating a space in which students can express themselves as well as be praised for their academic achievements.

Viva Carolina en la Escuela has already formed several partnerships with educational institutions in the Charlotte area, some of which are Albemarle Road Elementary and UNC-Charlotte. “I am excited for the opportunity to work in conjunction with local schools. This is something brand new for Viva Carolina and hopefully it will continue to grow and encompass other parts of the Carolinas in the near future,” said Giometti.

Viva Carolina en la Escuela has three sub-programs for institutions to participate in: “Herramientas de Salon” (Classroom Tools), “Esquina de Excelencia” (Corner of Excellence), and “Cuentos Creativos” (Creative Stories). Each sub-program was created with specific goals in mind that enhance each student’s overall comprehension of the Hispanic culture and language while recognizing them for their hard work and achievements.

“As a Latina raised in the United States, I never had the opportunity to take part in a program like Viva Carolina en la Escuela. I think it’s such a wonderful way for students of all backgrounds to develop their knowledge of the Spanish language and culture,” said Catherine Meléndez, a marketing intern at The Latin Focus.

Viva Carolina en la Escuela is still in the process of enrolling interested educational institutions. For more information, please visit www.vivacarolina.com.
