South Coast Bayern U9 Girls Headed to Semi-Finals in The CSL/US Club California Cup

SC Bayern U9 Girls Go Undefeated in Pool Play and Advance at The Cal Cup in San Bernardino, CA.

Huntington Beach, CA, February 27, 2009 --(PR.com)-- South Coast Bayern’s U9 Girls found new ways to win games during the first weekend of Pool play in the girls under 9 soccer club championships at the Soccer Complex in San Bernardino, CA. Winning their past two tournaments on stifling defense, the South Coast Bayern G99 team showcased precision offense in winning two games on Saturday, February 21 before completing their winning weekend with a 3-2 victory over Chelsea G99 on Sunday.

Despite going undefeated in the first weekend of Cal Cup, the victories were hard fought contests. Down 2-1 at half time versus Laguna Niguel SC Saturday morning, SC Bayern G99 roared out of the gates to start the second half behind Rachel Shubin's two goals and one assist to take a commanding 5-2 lead; before surrendering a late goal to win 5-3.

In their second game Saturday, the South Coast Bayern girls under 9 soccer team again pushed in a flurry of goals, winning 6-1 over San Clemente United, helped by a natural hat trick from forward Emma Clark.

First half goals on Sunday by Rachel Shubin and Hannah Nosek had SC Bayern up 2-0 over Chelsea G99. But by midway through the second half Chelsea managed to tie the game at 2-2. With the pressure on to strike back quickly, SC Bayern's Madison Macias took the ball all the way down the left side of the field before blasting it top shelf from a steep angle and finding the back of the net.

Following the game Sunday, SC Bayern's coaches were happy at the results but far from satisfied. Addressing the team, Director of Soccer Development Bobby Bruch said, “We started to bunch up in this game. We have to do better; we have to maintain our shape."

Coach Eddie Flores echoed: “I'm proud of you girls, but we left a lot of goals on the field. We need to make sure we have our heads up, that every pass has a purpose. Connect."
