Rochester, NY, February 28, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Multi-platinum recording artist The Presidents of the United States of America will take the Red Cat Summer Stage on the 4th of July, during the Camping World Grand Prix at The Glen. The high-energy concert is included with the price of weekend admission to the IndyCar Series race at Watkins Glen International, July 3-5. Fans looking to attend the concert only have the option to buy a Sunday admission ticket. The track will allow access to Sunday ticket holders after 5 pm on Saturday, July 4th.

Prior to one of the largest fireworks displays in western New York, fans will need to get ready for one of the biggest names to ever appear on the Red Cat Summer Stage, sponsored by Hazlitt 1852 Vineyards and Winery. The Presidents of the United States of America debuted their new release titled “Movin In” on NPR’s Weekend America in January. The song was also played in concert during the Presidential Inauguration celebration in Washington, D.C. on January 20th. It can be downloaded at www.presidentsrock.com.

“We continue to focus on the fans’ experience which includes both on and off the track entertainment throughout the weekend,” stated Craig Rust, president of Watkins Glen International. “Having IndyCar Series qualifying, followed by a concert and the largest 4th of July fireworks display – not to mention our annual NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Coke Zero 400 viewing party later that night live from Daytona - makes this the best 4th of July party in Upstate NY.”

The Presidents of the United States of America hit the big-time with the debut of their self-titled first album in 1995. The singles “Lump,” “Peaches,” and “Kitty” helped launch the band to double-platinum record status and into the mainstream. The record Pure Frosting featured two songs that had been used in a motion picture and on television. “Video Killed the Radio Star” was a cover that was included on the soundtrack for the Wedding Singer, while the Drew Carey Show chose “Cleveland Rocks” as their theme song. The group originated from Seattle, WA, and the grunge/post-grunge sound. The Presidents of the United States of America made a departure from the stereotypical sounds in the late 1990’s to perform many catchy and humorous critically acclaimed albums; II, Pure Frosting, Freaked Out and Small, Love Everybody, and their 2008 album These Are the Good Times People.

The group was formed by Chris Ballew (basitar and lead vocals) and Dave Dederer (guitbass and backup vocals) in 1993 and was joined by Jason Finn (drums) later that year. In 2004, Dederer pulled back from touring in order to spend more time with his family and Andrew McKeag was added as a live-performance stand-in.
