Quintiles Named to Training Top 125 for Workforce Training and Development Excellence

Research Triangle Park, NC, March 06, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Quintiles Transnational Corp., the world’s largest pharmaceutical services company, has been named to TRAINING magazine’s “Training Top 125,” the publication’s annual report that ranks companies based on their employer-sponsored training and development programs.

Quintiles enters the Training Top 125 for the first time at number 80, and is the only major contract research organization (CRO) in the 2009 rankings. This year’s Top 125 is a diverse cross-section of global industry leaders including companies ranging from Microsoft, Intel and Wells Fargo to Wyeth Pharmaceuticals, McDonalds and General Mills.

While Quintiles has frequently been cited by both customers and competitors as one of the best providers of training in the industry, inclusion in the Training Top 125 is an honor that speaks to the important role of Quintiles’ Global Learning & Development function.

“We are delighted to have Quintiles’ training and development recognized with our inclusion in the Training Top 125,” said Tim Bray, Quintiles Vice President, Global Learning and Development. “The growth and development of our people is critical to our success because our customers expect consistent service delivery on a global basis.

“Quintiles is able to meet this demand through established processes which are delivered by highly competent personnel the first time, every time,” Bray continued. “We believe our investment in learning and development plays a key role in making this a reality.”

Selection of the Training Top 125 is based on a variety of benchmarking statistics such as total training budget; percentage of payroll; number of training hours per employee program; goals, evaluation, measurement, and workplace surveys; hours of training per employee annually; and detailed formal programs.

Ranking within each year’s Top 125 is determined by assessing a range of qualitative and quantitative factors, including financial investment in employee development, the scope of development programs, and how closely such development efforts are linked to business goals and objectives. Other factors include Human Resources data such as turnover and new employee referrals.
