Skylift Complete Ruthmann Purchase

Lutterworth, United Kingdom, March 08, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Nationwide Platforms’ vehicle mount division, Skylift, has completed a deal to purchase two 58 metre truck mounted aerial platforms. The first of the two T580 Ruthmann Steigers was delivered to Skylift’s Manchester branch towards the end of February, whilst the second machine will be arriving at the end of March. This is in addition to the recent purchase of six T275 Ruthmann Steiger truck mounts, a compact and versatile truck mount that offers in excess of 27 metres working height.

Skylift chose the T580 due to the excellent quality of build and ongoing service back up received from Ruthmann since the original purchase of a fleet of T370s at the end of 2007. The T580 is competing in the 60 metre class due to its impressive 500kg platform capacity coupled with a massive 40 metre outreach. This offers the customer a machine that meets all requirements between the 44 metre and 62 metre range but still comes in at a 26 tonne gross vehicle weight.

Some of Skylift’s more interesting applications have come from television and film companies covering major sporting events, resulting in Skylift adding some bespoke features: As well as the standard extendable working camera cage, the T580 provides a full 360 degree panning TV camera cage that travels fitted, along with the MUSCO lighting frame rig that allows operators to fit and elevate flood light arrangements. The truck has excellent rear steer capabilities, allowing access to even the most awkward of sites such as sporting venues.

John Weights, Skylift’s UK Service Manager commented: “Ruthmann has provided us with exactly what we wanted even when our detailed specifications have, in some cases been innovative and new to them. The finished product right down to the smallest detail has impressed our customers and operators alike.

The T580 has a number of features dedicated to working safely at height; these include cage to ground communications, Steiger positioning memory, tele-control diagnostics direct to the manufacturer via sim card and dual emergency recovery backup systems with dual battery pack.

John Weights concluded: “With the recent purchase of Ruthmann machines, we are providing an unrivalled package for Skylift’s customers in supplying the most safety innovative and quality vehicle mounts in the industry.”
