Abelard Donates New Roof Through Habitat for Humanity

Anthony Delmedico, President of Abelard Construction, helps hard working, low-income family during tough economic times through Habitat for Humanity’s “A Brush with Kindness” Program.

Minneapolis, MN, March 18, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Abelard Construction, the premier residential restoration firm in the Midwest, announced today that it will donate and install a brand new roof to a hard working, low-income homeowner through Habitat for Humanity’s “A Brush with Kindness” Program. “A Brush with Kindness” is a program of Twin Cities Habitat for Humanity that helps low-income homeowners struggling to restore and maintain a safe and decent place to live.

About A Brush with Kindness
Many low-income homeowners live in challenging circumstances which create issues that are beyond what they can handle alone. You may know of a neighbor, parent or grandparent who is struggling to keep their home in a livable condition. Homeowners must often choose between paying for food, medication, taxes, and basic utilities.

When basic family expenses exceed income month after month, home maintenance is the usual casualty. Years of deferred maintenance can cause a downward spiral of home deterioration and unsafe living conditions. Outside forces also play a role in putting the squeeze on low-income homeowners. Often they are faced with city code violations and homeowner insurance cancellation when their home is in disrepair.

A Brush with Kindness is a program about connecting people and restoring homes through simple acts of kindness so that homeowners can once again live in a safe and decent home.

“Abelard Construction started out as a business helping people make it through tough times resulting from storms, accidents, or other unforeseen home maintenance requirements,” says Anthony Delmedico, Abelard president. “’A Brush with Kindness’ is locally based, focused on helping homeowners who have worked for years to maintain their homes, and who now find themselves in the position of needing a little help.”

Abelard will be installing the new roof this spring, depending on weather conditions in our great state of Minnesota.
