Just Released: ‘Poseidon for UML’ Version 4.2

Component diagrams and new diagram handling features in the spotlight of the newest tool from Gentleware.

Hamburg, Germany, July 20, 2006 --(PR.com)-- Innovative UML tool provider Gentleware AG announced today the release of version 4.2 of the market-leading modeling tool, "Poseidon for UML".  An updated Component diagram, new diagram interface tools, and better overall performance are the primary highlights of the release. Poseidon for UML fully implements the underlying logic of the UML 2 standard, and does so within an intelligently defined user interface.

The Component diagram is the latest diagram to undergo a makeover within the tool.  This change was necessitated by the update from UML 1.x to 2.0, where the actual meaning of the term 'component' was altered.  Previously, a component referred to an item to be implemented, such as an executable.  As of UML 2.0, components are treated as encapsulated entities that serve as a black box to hide behavior and provide interfaces to the component.  This transforms them into more logical elements that can be easily replaced as required by the design.

Additional usability features have been added within Poseidon for UML across all diagram types.  Among the changes: a simple double-click can change the diagram display from standard view to full-window mode and back again.  New packages can be created within a diagram and elements added to that package with a single drag maneuver.  Drag and drop within a diagram has been enhanced to show a preview of package reassignment and to automatically resize those packages.  Also, the display of any element is much more configurable through checkboxes.  When modeling is complete, the improved documentation generation makes the model easier to share with other stakeholders.

"With this release we again prove our unceasing dedication to the customer experience," explains Dr. Marko Boger, CEO of Gentleware.  "We place great value in our dialogs with our clients, and it has enabled us to deliver excellent quality and usability to our enormously wide user base."

These enhancements can be evaluated free of charge for 30 days or purchased at the Gentleware web site (www.gentleware.com).  Among other products, commercial users may choose the Standard Edition for USD 249 or the Eclipse-integrated Professional Edition for USD 875.  Gentleware also offers convenient and economical concurrent user license packages for multi-user environments and university discounts.
