Kuiken Brothers Helps Homeowners Choose Products That Can Qualify for $1,500 Energy Tax Credit

There’s good news for homeowners looking to save energy while improving the comfort, beauty and value of their homes.

Midland Park, NJ, April 03, 2009 --(PR.com)-- There’s good news for homeowners looking to save energy while improving the comfort, beauty and value of their homes. The recently passed American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009, popularly known as the “stimulus package,” offers a federal tax credit of up to $1,500 to homeowners who install new, energy-efficient windows and doors.

Kuiken Brothers strongly supports this initiative, offering its customers a wide selection of tax credit qualified products from nationally recognized brands such as Andersen®, Marvin®, ThermaTru®, and Masonite® to name a few. The company has recently updated all of this information on their Green Building website at kuikenbrothers.com/green, with direct links to qualifying products to help simplify the selection process. The company is also offering a free consultation at its many showroom locations.

How to Qualify for the Tax Credit

1. Visit kuikenbrothers.com/green and choose the “Energy Tax Credit” link. Review the list of qualifying products and then visit a Kuiken Brothers Showroom.
2. Replace old windows and doors between January 1, 2009 and December 31, 2010. Qualifying windows and doors must have a U-Factor and a Solar Heat Gain Coefficient (SHGC) equal to or lower than 0.30.
3. Save the purchase receipt and all NFRC/Energy Star labels from the windows and doors installed.
4. Submit IRS Tax Form 5695 when filing taxes. The 2009 version of Form 5695 will be available in late 2009 or early 2010 on the Energy Star and IRS websites.

“Choosing energy efficient products is a major element of the GREEN building movement which focuses on increasing the health and comfort of the home’s occupants” says Douglas Kuiken, president of Kuiken Brothers Company. “Another major element is to look for ways to minimize the overall global impact that can occur in the manufacturing and shipping processes.”

Kuiken Brothers Company goes to great lengths to reduce its own carbon footprint. Four of the companies’ nine locations are accessed by train rail, which enable them to efficiently receive lumber, plywood and building materials from lumber mills and manufacturers across the country. This allows them to keep up to 1,500 trucks off the road each year. Furthermore, the companies’ strategically located showrooms allow homeowners to view hundreds of products on display in real life settings helping them make well informed decisions without the hassle of driving to several different locations.

Established in 1912, Kuiken Brothers Company, Inc has grown to become a leading supplier of quality lumber, millwork, building material and related services, with a focus on serving the needs of professional contractors and homeowners in the region. With a staff of over 225 employees, the company has a total of nine locations, eight in New Jersey in Fair Lawn, Emerson, Midland Park, Ogdensburg, Wantage, Garfield, Succasunna and Roseland – and one in Warwick, New York.
