IBBA Hosts Inaugural Global Brangus Roundup

San Antonio, TX, April 08, 2009 --(PR.com)-- The International Brangus Breeders Association (IBBA) hosted the inaugural Global Brangus Roundup on March 8, 2009, a one-day event held immediately after the 2009 IBBA Convention. The event was held at the George Ranch Historical Park in Richmond, Texas and served as a unique opportunity to both formally introduce international breeders to the advantages of the Brangus breed, and provide IBBA members with a chance to market their genetics to an international audience.

“Reaching out to our international breeders has been a priority at the IBBA for the past year,” states Dr. Joseph M. Massey, IBBA Executive Vice President, “and while traditional marketing material is certainly effective to a degree, nothing compares with the opportunity to communicate face to face. The Global Brangus Roundup is the result of a genuine effort to create common ground between our US members and their international counterparts.”

Turnout exceeded expectations with over 70 breeders from 9 countries, representing 3 continents. Cattlemen from Argentina, Belize, Brazil, Colombia, Costa Rica, Mexico, Paraguay, South Africa, and Uruguay spent the afternoon enjoying Texas barbeque, entertainment and a formal program covering the advances in breed improvement technologies. Following lunch, IBBA members displayed example females, herd sires and bulls from their own breeding programs, while discussing their own operations and their personal history of involvement with the Brangus breed.

The Global Brangus Roundup represents another step in the IBBA’s ongoing efforts to reach out to international breeders and expand Brangus influence beyond US borders. A detailed review of the Global Brangus Roundup will be featured in the IBBA’s second annual International Issue of the Brangus Journal.
