)-- Image is everything! Brooklyn-based fashion stylist Shaunya Hartley lives by that motto. While working with major style stars such as Usher, Lauryn Hill and Vanessa Williams, Shaunya puts great energy towards creating a perfect image. Whether working on music videos or red carpet events, this stylist-to-the-stars holds nothing back when it comes to fashion.
A profoundly visual individual, Shaunya presents an illuminating in-depth analysis of current trends, celebrity style and overall fashion. Additionally, she is prepared with historical anecdotes, colloquiums and visual analogies on all things clothing and accessories. Asked what would she be doing if not a stylist and she draws a blank. “I couldn’t imagine doing anything else. I just love clothes. I actually enjoy visiting boutiques, examining the latest inventory, and making notes on what could work for the varied roster of clients or projects that I have.”
A graduate of Fashion Institute of Technology and City College, Shaunya has held a wide range of retail oriented jobs. The most notable position was the ultra-chic SoHo boutique Kirna Zabete, where she rubbed elbows with other stylists, such as Andrea Lieberman, Kithe Brewster and Camilla Nickerson. Steadfast on becoming a professional dresser, she became King Magazine’s Market Editor. Soon afterwards, she landed the coveted stylist spot on a Smoking Grooves tour with hip-hop fashionista Lauryn Hill. “Once you work with Lauryn, you see fashion as a true artistic medium -- true self expression at its highest.”
Shaunya’s work has been featured in such magazines as In Style, VIBE, Maxim, Essence and Honey, among others.
