Clearwater, FL, April 18, 2009 --(PR.com)-- In a fitting celebration of the regatta named for the founder of the Optimist Sailboat nearly 60 years ago, Connor Harding of the Naples Community Sailing Center sailing his Zoum Custom Racer crossed the finish line with a bullet to edge-out Courtney Lehan Red Fleet of Team For. Connor Harding’s performance put him in First Place overall and First Place in the Blue Fleet to win the 2009 Clark Mills Regatta.

The Optimist is a stable trainer as comfortable in offshore rough sea conditions as anywhere. It returns its precious young helmsman wiser and more salty. Over 150,000 Optimist boats are being sailed today in more than 110 countries around the world. Bill Douglas of Opti News reported the Optimist has touched the souls of perhaps millions of young sailors. IODA reports 85% of the Olympic sailing medalist are former optimist sailors. The Zoum Optimist is a custom racer handcrafted to be better than the competition and priced to offer better value.
