University’s Admissions department uses PC-based SMS system to notify successful applicants.

New York, NY, July 28, 2006 --(PR.com)-- The administration of Creighton University, Nebraska, send admission notifications to prospective students by formal letter, but had been aware of the possibilities of complementing the letter with a quicker, less formal message to communicate positive admission decisions.

Dynmark International’s e-txt message manager software was sourced to provide a simple, desktop PC-based SMS text-messaging solution whereby messages could be sent directly to prospective students’ mobile phones.

“This essentially augmented our process for a ‘quicker’ delivery of the good news,” said Mary Chase, Director of Admissions and Scholarships at Creighton University. “We're trying to respond to the students’ needs because they are so interested in having instant information."

e-txt is a PC-based application similar in appearance to Microsoft Outlook, enabling large volumes of text-messages to be sent and received in one operation.

The University added a box to application forms for students to tick if they wanted to be alerted of their acceptance by text. Since November 2005, Creighton University has sent text-messages notifying 44 percent of admitted students about their place.

“We were totally happy with the process and it was a minimal investment,” said Ms Chase. “The product is very user friendly and required little management time.”

There are obvious benefits for the prospective students of being able to know their application outcome up to seven days before they would be informed by letter. “The text messages have been especially popular with students from Hawaii,” agrees Ms Chase, “because mail often takes a long time to get there.

“Dynmark’s technology will allow us to continue to be on the edge of using technology in college admissions.”
