Pioneers of Hybrid-Ice™ Synthetic Ice Rink Events Offer Recession-Ready Ice Rink Event Alternatives

Glendale, AZ, April 22, 2009 --(PR.com)-- In a year when budgets are being stripped to the bone it’s good to know that not everything costs an arm and a leg. BH Skating Parks International is a Canadian owned US company has been the pioneer in hybrid-ice™ synthetic ice skating rink events in the US and around the world. In fact the growing popularity of this affordable alternative to real ice can be traced back to 2004 when BH Skating Parks promoted their first ice skating rink in the San Francisco Bay Area of California.

While plastic-ice is not new, the product had never been marketed to the public as an entertainment option. In a time where ‘going green’ was becoming the new catch phrase, particularly in California, skating rinks made of recyclable plastic that require no electricity or refrigeration to operate got everyone’s attention.

A native Canadian, BHSP President and owner Brenda Hann grew up in a country where learning to skate is as common as baseball is to American kids. Brenda believed that synthetic ice, which offers a less expensive and more user-friendly skating surface (the surface offers a slightly slower skating experience), would be a wonderful way to introduce non-skaters to the sport of ice skating, and would appeal to a new environmentally conscious market.

With a background that includes 20+ years as a successful skating school director, professional skater and coach, several years of marketing experience and a business degree, Brenda launched BH Skating Parks with a single demonstration event. Soon shopping centers, municipalities and schools began calling to reserve their own skating rink packages for events. Next television and film studios were calling, event planners looking for something unique for parties and conventions, and clients from around the globe.

Over the past five years the company has learned almost everything there is to know about their hybrid-ice™ alternative and the specific challenges that plastic ice presents. The product is a budget alternative to real ice, and provides logistical alternatives in situations where refrigerated ice is not possible. The skating experience is indeed different when compared to real ice and therefore BH Skating Parks is careful to point out all of the pros and cons to clients to ensure satisfaction.

Before BH Skating Parks, synthetic ice was relegated to a few hockey centers. Today synthetic ice is growing in popularity, a fact that can be traced directly to the success of BH Skating Parks and their growing profile within the industry. While a handful of similar companies have sprouted since BH Skating Parks opened their doors, none can boast the industry knowledge and hands on experience BH Skating Parks has gained by producing hundreds of events over the past five years.

What is most attractive to clients is the low cost. In contrast to real ice rinks that can cost fifty to one hundred thousand dollars or more, their introductory rental packages cost in the low thousands. Because their goal is to promote the sport of ice-skating, they often sponsor schools, camps and charities by providing these groups with their rink packages at cost.

If there is one thing that Canadians know about it’s skating. The entire team at BH Skating Parks is passionate about ice skating and equally passionate about the company. They are committed to building lasting relationships with all of our clients, and work hard to create the best possible skating experience we can at any budget. They believe that even though we are living in an uncertain economic climate people still want to have fun and be entertained, and at BH Skating Parks they are working hard to continue offer their hybrid-ice™ rink alternatives to the skating public at accessible prices.
