)-- Palmetto Childproofing Inc, a Charlotte based professional babyproofing company, recently participated in the 1st annual Summer Safety Day.
The one day event provided outdoor fun for families and aimed to create public awareness of child safety and injury prevention during the summer. It was held April 19th from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. and was organized and hosted by Charlotte Aquatics.
Activities included face painting, story time, free balloons for all, a coloring station, and fishing for magnetic guppies. In addition, kids got to spin the safety wheel and won prizes for answering questions on such topics as poison prevention, gun safety, fire and burn prevention, water safety, playground safety, heat and sports injury prevention, and motor vehicle safety.
“As a child safety advocate, I’m thrilled to be a part of this event,” said Mike Bost, vice president of Palmetto Childproofing Inc. “Parents and their children are learning about a whole range of safety topics today, and best of all, they’re having fun in the process.”
Sponsors and participants for the event included various local businesses as well as the Charlotte-Mecklenburg and Matthews Police Departments which provided information on stranger danger, crime prevention, and bike safety. Car seat checks were also conducted free of charge.
“With summer just around the corner,” said Bost, “kids will be out of school, outdoor activities will increase, and the number of injuries, mishaps, and emergency room visits will increase as well. Hopefully, this event will remind children and parents alike to enjoy their summer activities with safety in mind.”
