Griptite Turns 88

Winterset, IA, April 25, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Grip-Tite Manufacturing Company has turned 88 years old. Founded in Winterset, Iowa in 1921, the company has been manufacturing earth anchoring and foundation stabilization products for 88 years. The company is best known today for the Grip-Tite® Wall Anchor System.

In the early years, production was dedicated to manufacturing earth anchoring products used primarily on oil well derricks, oil pipelines and highway guardrail cables. Grip-Tite also manufactured custom steel products used to assist in bridge building.

Following World War II, Grip-Tite developed earth anchors for the rapidly expanding rural electrification network. Grip-Tite has supplied earth anchor products from coast to coast and internationally. Today they are still one of the leading earth anchor manufacturers for the electric and telephone industries.

In 1968 Grip-Tite manufacturing developed new cross-plate anchor for electric lines on the Island of Madagascar, located in the Indian Ocean. 53,000 anchors were manufactured and shipped via 15 rail cars in February of 1969. This project lead to Grip-Tite recognizing the demand for a similar product to simply and effectively secure and stabilize cracked and bowing walls without complete wall replacement.

After modifying the earth anchor developed for Madagascar, the Grip-Tite® Wall Anchor System became a reality. This unique system earned a U.S. Patent. Since then, hundreds of thousands of the Grip-Tite® Wall Anchor Systems have been installed around the globe.

This patented technology and growing demand led to Grip-Tite establishing a network of certified dealers across the United States and Canada.

In 1998, Grip-Tite Manufacturing began to look into solutions for foundation settlement. They have designed and manufactured a full line of foundation stabilization piering products for residential and commercial use. Grip-Tite manufacturing remains an innovator and leader in the foundation repair industry.

David Nicholl became majority owner and President of Grip-Tite manufacturing Co., L.L.C. in October of 2005. Ross Nichol became Vice President and Customer Service manager in January 2007. By that October, Justin Porter came on board as Dealer Development Manager. Mark A. Jacobsen II, PE joined the firm in 2008, to further facilitate product development, testing, engineering and dealer support. Grip-Tite continues as both a leader and innovator in the foundation repair industry.
