She is a member of the board of directors for the Construction and Architectural Design Academy at Southern High School in Durham and vice president of the nonprofit Durham Careers in Construction, a group of construction professionals that educate young, at-risk, public school students about the wide array of lucrative careers in construction.

“I am honored to be named to the Durham Workforce Development Board,” said Pineiro. “I am passionate about creating programs that encourage an effective workforce, especially on the local level. I look forward to collaborating with fellow board members in this effort.”

About WOmen @ Work:
WOmen @ Work is a nonprofit organization dedicated to encouraging young women to explore traditionally male-dominated construction fields. The organization was founded by Lisa Pineiro, a former cosmetologist who now owns her own electrical training and recruiting firm, Technical Services Inc. (TSI), in Durham, N.C. Pineiro saw the shortage of women in the construction industry and knew that this was a missed opportunity for many young women. As a result, Pineiro formed WOmen @ Work to persuade middle and high school age girls to embrace construction and other trades as a viable career path. Pineiro travels throughout the Southeast to spread her message during a hands-on program that allows young women to learn and exercise skills in construction.
