EarthSync Releases Voice Over the Bridge in India

Voice Over the Bridge, A lilting journey of classical Myanmar music, together with contemporary western musicians. EarthSync, a Chennai-based world music label, has announced the release of its latest production, Voice Over the Bridge, an album that melts together Myanmar’s classical music and contemporary western music.

Chennai, India, May 09, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Speaking on the release of the album, Ms. Sonya Mazumdar, CEO, EarthSync, said "We at EarthSync take pride in our ability to provide platforms for well-deserving talented musicians, who may not otherwise have the access. The release of Voice Over The Bridge is another such platform that brings to the fore singers Khing Zin Shwe and Shwe Shwe Khaing, who worked with us earlier in the Laya Project. Their voices, bring to life the praises for kings from thirteenth century Myanmar, and strike a deep emotional chord in all listeners regardless of cultural backgrounds. We have no doubt that the album will be received very well."

Deeply respected by their people, the 55 kings in Myanmar’s history were praised through music composed and performed by court musicians. These ancient songs and music traditions are documented in the Maha Gita, which can be traced back to the ancient city of Mandalay, the fountainhead of Myanmar’s artistic and theosophical culture. The EarthSync team has recorded and brought these songs out of the boundaries of Myanmar to a worldwide audience. While the songs are traditional Myanmarese, music for the album has been composed by Patrick Sebag, and the mixing and mastering has been done by Yotam Agam at Clementine Studios, Chennai.

Songs featured on the album include Rain Song, Ataing Mathy Blue, Nitoon Yanka, Mandalabon, Glorius Sun, SanWay and Thida. The album is available in CDs for Rs 400 at all leading music outlets.

About the singers:
Khing Zin Shwe has been singing since she was seven years old. Encouraged by her parents to pursue music, she has over the years gained deep knowledge of the intricacies of the classical songs of the Maha Gita and is devoted to the traditional music of Myanmar. Khing Zin Shwe continues her learning, pursuing the knowledge and interpretation of classical music.

Shwe Shwe Khaing began singing light, popular songs since she was six or seven years old. Around her eleventh year, she began to understand the beauty of the Maha Gita, and has since then, studied traditional Myanmar music and has been performing the songs of the Maha Gita to perfection. Shwe Shwe Kahing enjoys singing popular music as much as Myanmar’s classical music.

Shwe Shwe Khaing and Khing Zin Shwe have been performing together for many years. They also perform at monasteries and at weddings where traditionally songs from the Maha Gita are sung. Through their performances of the Maha Gita, Shwe Shwe Khaing and Khing Zin Shwe they have committed themselves to nurturing their ancient Myanmar classical music traditions.
