Donate Blankets for Homeless Animals

Blankets are more than comfortable for animals in their no-kill shelter - they're comforting. Donate a blanket and make a difference.

Hays, KS, May 13, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Josie, a mother dog, and her seven puppies snuggle cozily in their cage at Western Plains Animal Refuge in Hays, Kansas. They are alive and well, but their story nearly had a much less happy ending.

They came to Western Plains from another shelter where all eight were scheduled to be euthanized. Why? Because one of the puppies had ringworm, a very minor, treatable condition. Because it is contagious, and because many shelters are not equipped to handle medical issues, this small problem was going to be a death sentence.

Each day, Western Plains Animal Refuge volunteers change the lives of animals and the people who love them. Through a network of caring volunteers, hundreds of wonderful pets are rescued and adopted each year.

In addition, hundreds of wild animals have been rescued and rehabilitated, from the smallest bird to larger animals like deer, bobcats and raccoons.

Now they need your help.

All of the animals at Western Plains Animal Refuge are kept warm and safe while they are in our care. For many, the blankets in their temporary cages make them feel secure and comfortable. Many, many blankets are used each year, and more are needed.

If you have an old (or new) blanket you would like to donate, drop it off or mail it to:
