Children's Book Author Hires Blue Archer to Design Interactive Website
Site to accompany series of books and promote active learning
Pittsburgh, PA, May 28, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Author JE Taptich has hired Blue Archer to design the accompanying website for her new series of children’s books. The site is scheduled to launch in early June. Blondie Books will publish its first book in the series, I'm Tana Ray, By The Way, following shortly after.
“Kids are growing up in a different world than I did, one that is more diverse and much busier,” said Taptich. “The Tana Ray books are about growing up with other kids in this new environment – learning to interrelate, accept diversity, and grow in ways that kids from my generation couldn’t imagine.”
In the books, the fashionable and well liked Tana Ray is an inquisitive child who moves to a new neighborhood after the death of her father, a colonel in the air force. There she meets her new best friend Darla, a child with Down syndrome. Known for her trademark catchphrase ‘by the way’, Tana Ray seeks to help others learn about children whose differences range from their backgrounds to the disabilities they are afflicted with.
The website will supplement the series with activities related to the books in addition to bringing the content to an audience that can at times be hard for authors to reach.
To do so, Blue Archer plans on installing custom image design and functionality that enables the site’s content to be heard through speakers in addition to being viewed through sign language.
“With Blue Archer’s help, the site will enable all kids to learn from the Tana Ray experience,” said Taptich. “Much of childhood revolves around being dependant on someone else, particularly for children with disabilities. The Tana Ray website’s interactive nature shows kids that learning and reading is something they can approach on their own, even if they are normally dependant on someone else signing or reading to them.”
