BJAC Partner Earns LEED Certification

Raleigh, NC, May 29, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Lou Jurkowski, chief executive officer at BJAC, pa (www.bjac.com), an architectural firm offering professional services for specialized, complex institutional projects, has announced that Jennifer Amster, partner and director of higher education projects at BJAC, has been certified as a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Accredited Professional (AP) by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC). This professional certificate recognizes individuals with extensive knowledge and a thorough understanding of green building practices and principles as well as a familiarity with LEED requirements, resources and processes. LEED is the nationally accepted benchmark for the design, construction and operation of high-performance green buildings.

With a concentration in programming and planning, Amster has a critical understanding of the importance of project definition prior to design. She has managed projects totaling hundreds of millions of dollars and brings extensive experience in helping universities prioritize needs, planning and design while ensuring that their projects meet schedule and budget constraints. Amster has led multiple project teams from N.C. State University’s Community Development Group to work with numerous municipalities to provide design and long-range planning. She is a member of the American Institute of Architects (AIA), the Triangle Chapter of the American Institute of Architects and the Society for College and University Planning.

“Our firm is proud to announce that Jennifer has earned LEED certification,” said Jurkowski. “This is a prestigious achievement in our industry that requires extensive work and determination and it supports our firm’s commitment to sustainable design and responsible architecture.”
