Oscar Torre to Star in Lion's Gate Film "Movidas"

Los Angeles, CA, August 10, 2006 --(PR.com)-- Oscar Torre has nabbed the lead role opposite Spanish film and television stars Fernando Colunga, Miguel Baroni and Saul Lisazo in the Lion’s Gate heist film “Movidas.” Joe Menendez is directing the Jim McNamara project. Lensing is scheduled to commence in Los Angeles in late August.

Oscar Torre is quickly positioning himself as one of Hollywood's most versatile actors, amassing a collective body of work that encompasses theatre and independent films. He first garnered attention with the lead role in the film "Libertad," playing an artist in Cuba who is unjustly sentenced to 15 years in prison and later escapes on a raft. After viewing his performance, NBC-TV film critic Maria Salas predicted, "Oscar will be the next Latin star," and Telerevista Magazine listed him as one of the actors in Hollywood to keep your eyes on. Theatre critic Jacob Clark of MetroLA Magazine, in his review of the play "The Contract," says "Oscar Torre is an incredibly organic actor whose work (as Dave) is a marvel through his absolute naturalness. Torre literally lives the character, and I can think of no better accolade for a performance."

Torre’s other credits include lead roles in “The Versace Murder,” “Suicide Blonde,” and “Hunting of Man,” which was also directed by Joe Menendez.
